Managed File Transfer (BluSync) is a hybrid file synchronization, sharing, and collaboration feature designed for enterprise use in the CrashPlan Platform. This feature enables secure file synchronization across multiple devices, ensuring that updated files are automatically reflected in corresponding folders in real time.
The feature is governed by role-based access control and security policies, ensuring that only authorized users can access, share, or sync data within defined MiniClouds and folders.
The following are the core capabilities of the Managed File Transfer feature:
- Automatic Synchronization: You can establish synchronization between cloud-based folders—which are specifically created inside a main "CrashPlan/" directory. When a file is updated, those changes are automatically synchronized with the corresponding folders on all other devices you utilize.
- MiniClouds: Administrators can create segregated cloud spaces known as MiniClouds for different users within the organization. Administrators manage these spaces by assigning specific storage quotas (in GB) and expiration dates. This ensures that users only have access to the data explicitly intended for them. For more information, see MiniClouds Overview.
- Flexible File Management: Through the "My Files" tab in the CrashPlan Platform, you can seamlessly manage their documents. Available actions include viewing, sharing, and tracking file versions (Added, Modified, Deleted). For more information, see My Files Page Overview.
- Policy-Driven Governance: Every user is associated with a specific policy that governs their permissions. For example, file and folder uploads (which can be done through drag-and-drop across all portal pages) are restricted based on policy filters like file size and extension. Administrators can map single or multiple policies to control user actions. For more information, see Policy Controls.
- Dashboards and Reporting: Administrators have access to a central dashboard that displays critical information such as active users, utilized storage, and the validity date of the Parablu installation. It also provides downloadable Excel or PDF reports for overall activity history. For more information, see Dashboard and Reporting.
