Using SCCM
This method only supports Windows devices. To deploy the CrashPlan agent using SCCM you must have administrator privileges.
Creating a package in Microsoft Configuration Manager
Open the Configuration Manager Console from the Windows Start Menu.
In the Configuration Manager Console, go to Software Library > Packages.
Select Create Package and fill in the following for the package:
Name, Manufacturer, Language and Version number.
Tick the checkbox This package contains the source files.
In the source folder browser, select the network location of the .exe.
Click Next.
In the Program Type screen, choose Standard Program and click Next.
After choosing Standard program type, fill in the following:
Program Name.
Command Line: select the agent .exe from the network location.
Run: Hidden.
Program can run: Whether the user is logged in or not.
Do not check Allow users to view and interact with the program installation.
Drive Mode: Runs with UNC name.
Click Next.
Under Specify requirements for the standard program check the option This program can run on any platform and click Next.
Package setup will run. After it is completed, you will see your package on the list of packages.
Deploying the package
In Configuration Manager Console, go to Application Management > Packages.
Right-click on your created package and select Deploy.
In the Deploy Software Wizard, fill in the following:
Software: Select the package you just created.
Collection: Select the user group to receive the deployment.
Click Next.
In Add Distribution Points add the corresponding distribution point and click Next.
Schedule a time for the package deployment and click Next.
On the following screen, specify the following:
On both Deployment options, select Download content from distribution point and run locally from the dropdown.
Check the box for Allow client to share content with other clients on the same subnet.
Click Next to complete the deployment.
In the Configuration Management Console under Monitoring, check the status of the deployment push for your users.
You can check whether the deployment was successful on a target device by looking for the menu bar icon for the CrashPlan Platform agent.
